Lake Sinclair made its home in Middle Georgia in 1953 when the Georgia Power Company finally finished construction of the Sinclair Dam.  The power company began construction of the dam all the way back in 1929 to harness the power of the Oconee River but the company had to suspend work shortly thereafter when the Great Depression took hold in 1930.  Construction resumed in 1945 and, once finished, the dam created a 15,000+ acre reservoir between the historic towns of Milledgeville and Eatonton with over 415 miles of shoreline.

Hi. My father was a professor at the Women’s College of Georgia and I was born in Milledgeville in 1958. I have magical memories of faculty get togethers at Lake Sinclair when I was a small child. Do you know of any WCG owned or leased areas on Lake Sinclair long ago? Or any areas that could have been rented by the college in the early 60’s?
